About Jacqueline

Jacqueline Kaminski is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Expressive Arts Therapist, and former Registered Nurse. She works with adults navigating trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and questions of identity, purpose, and meaning.

After more than ten years as a Registered Nurse, Jacqueline decided to pursue a more whole-person approach to wellbeing. Graduate-level training in Spiritual Psychotherapy provided a strong foundation in somatic awareness, inner child and parts work, emotional healing, relational patterns, and incorporating clients' spiritual beliefs and resources into therapy when important to the client. She later earned a three-year Graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from the CREATE Institute.

Jacqueline's counselling experience includes private practice, four years as a grief and hospice counsellor, and crisis counselling for individuals affected by sexual violence. She has also facilitated trauma-informed expressive arts therapy groups for adults and children affected by interpersonal violence and for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Jacqueline continues to work with adults affected by childhood trauma. She has completed Basic Training in EMDR and advanced training in expressive arts therapy for trauma. Her work is also informed by continued study of Dr. Janina Fisher's work with trauma survivors.

Expressive Arts Therapy engages the whole person. Guiding clients through different forms of expression helps them explore what is emerging, needed, or wanting attention. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves, and no artistic experience is required. The focus is on the client's experience rather than creating a beautiful piece of art.

Therapy with Jacqueline is shaped by her professional training, life experience, and personal therapy. Having experienced most of the therapies she now offers to clients, Jacqueline understands both the courage it takes to begin therapy and the challenge of approaching ourselves with curiosity instead of judgment.

Jacqueline believes that experiential approaches to therapy can help us connect with the inner wisdom, strength, and possibility we all carry.

My Approach

Jacqueline works with you as a whole person who is much more than your symptoms. She is interested in getting to know your story, strengths, hopes, and the experiences that have shaped you.

Drawing from trauma-informed psychotherapy, somatic awareness, inner child and parts work, Expressive Arts Therapy, EMDR, and DBT-informed skills, Jacqueline uses an integrative approach tailored to your needs, goals, and readiness.

Together, you can build on your strengths, explore what is getting in the way, and discover which approaches and tools best support the changes you want to make. At times, this may include exploring how earlier life experiences continue to influence present-day thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns of responding. You may work with themes such as emotion regulation, self-compassion, boundaries, relationship patterns, or the ways stress and trauma are experienced in the body. Jacqueline also enjoys helping clients learn practical therapeutic skills through experiential activities that make them meaningful and easier to apply in everyday life.

Expressive Arts Therapy offers an effective way of exploring experiences that may be difficult to fully access through conversation alone. Through movement, writing, visual art, storytelling, sound, enactment, and imagination, clients often discover new perspectives, strengths, and resources. The sensory nature of expressive arts can be especially supportive in trauma therapy, helping people reconnect with the present moment while building trust, expanding the capacity for positive emotions, and creating opportunities for play and aliveness.

If spirituality or faith is important to you, Jacqueline is happy to incorporate it into therapy in ways that feel respectful and authentic to your beliefs and values.
