About Laura

Laura Colasurdo is a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a professional background in Early Childhood Studies and Child Development, having completed her Bachelor of Applied Sciences at the University of Guelph-Humber. This combination of graduate clinical training and developmental expertise gives her work with children, families, and individuals navigating anxiety and life transitions a particular depth of understanding.

Laura is a compassionate and dedicated clinician who believes that a strong therapeutic relationship — built on genuine rapport, trust, and a comfortable, open environment — is the essential foundation of effective therapy. She understands and encourages clients to explore both their conscious and unconscious experiences, and recognises that the therapeutic process itself is a meaningful journey that benefits from patience, commitment, and authentic collaboration.

Laura is passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety and stress, and is dedicated to walking alongside them throughout the therapeutic journey — however long that journey takes — toward personal growth and a more fulfilling life.

Clinical Approach

Laura applies a Person-Centred foundational orientation, offering empirically supported psychological tools and interventions from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her therapeutic approach encourages clients to set meaningful goals, which she supports them in achieving by working through thoughts and feelings in a structured yet flexible way — always within a supportive, calming, and genuinely open environment.

Laura's background in early childhood studies informs a developmentally sensitive approach to working with children and families — recognising the particular challenges and opportunities that arise at different life stages, and bringing that awareness into the therapeutic work with individuals of all ages.
