Training & Experience
Katherine is a Registered Social Worker and designated Psychotherapist with over ten years experience in Health and Mental Health. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Toronto Metropolitan University. She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), an active member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and a retired Funeral Director with over twenty-year licensed membership with the Bereavement Association of Ontario (BAO).
Katherine provides client-centred holistic and strength-based approaches in counselling and ensures anti-oppressive and LGBTQIA+ positive space to individuals who are seeking assistance with navigating difficult adjustments due to life altering changes. Working from a collaborative trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective to addressing anxiety, despondence, workplace and relationship challenges, stressful events, motor vehicle accidents and crisis, Katherine utilizes therapeutic skills and knowledge allowing for diverse applications in evidenced-based treatments drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrative approaches to include Narrative, Mindfulness, Bereavement, Grief and Loss, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT).
Katherine is a dedicated therapist who aims to create a path to recovery with providing a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment focusing on client lived experiences, culture and identified goals toward enhancement of well-being and improved quality of life.
