About Bina

Bina Persaud is a Registered Psychotherapist at Newmarket Therapy Centre Downtown, holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She works with individuals, adolescents, and families across a wide range of mental health concerns. She specialises in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem challenges, and relationship and family issues, bringing a deeply client-centred and holistic approach to every session.

An Indo-Caribbean woman born and raised in Toronto, Bina brings cultural sensitivity and a thoughtful awareness of diversity to her practice. She works with people from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds and is particularly attuned to the experiences of cultural minority clients. Her years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator before becoming a psychotherapist give her a unique understanding of how childhood and adolescent experiences shape adult psychology — and how revisiting those unmet needs can become a doorway to growth and authenticity.

"Be proactive about your mental health, not reactive. Awareness in itself is healing."

Bina Persaud · quoting Fritz Perls

Clinical Approach

Bina believes it is important to include all aspects of the Self — mental, emotional, somatic, and spiritual — within the therapeutic experience. Her integrative, holistic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and spiritually-oriented practice. This breadth allows her to meet each client where they are and tailor sessions to their unique needs.

Central to Bina's work is the belief that clients carry within them deep psychological resources and healing potential. Her role is to create the conditions for that potential to emerge — through gentle exploration, evidence-based skills, and a strong therapeutic alliance. As a goal-oriented therapist, Bina is committed to walking alongside her clients on the path toward their "best possible selves."
