About Chris
Chris Cadaret is a Registered Psychotherapist at Newmarket Therapy Centre's Leslie Street location, holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. He works from the foundational belief that people carry within them significant insights — and that with intentional guidance and collaborative exploration, those insights can become the engine of real, lasting personal growth.
Chris works with adults, teens, and adolescents navigating a wide range of challenges — including anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, borderline personality disorder, autism spectrum disorder, OCD, anger management, grief, and self-image. He is committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space and has particular experience working with the LGBTQ2S+ community.
Before entering private practice, Chris developed his clinical skills across a variety of settings — including as a support worker for individuals with ASD and as an addictions counsellor at an in-patient treatment centre. This breadth of experience informs his adaptable, deeply human approach to therapy.
"I work under the assumption that you already hold the insights you need. My role is to help you find them — through honest exploration, genuine collaboration, and a commitment to meeting you exactly where you are."
Chris Cadaret — Newmarket Therapy Centre, Leslie StreetClinical Approach
Chris takes a collaborative, integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He tailors his approach to each individual, combining evidence-based techniques with genuine warmth and curiosity to help clients build self-understanding, self-compassion, and practical coping strategies.

Who Chris Works With
Music & Chris
Beyond the therapy room, Chris is a songwriter and musician. His relationship with music is deeply intertwined with his work as a therapist — both as a form of personal self-care and as a window into the shared human experience. Whether listening to artists reflect honestly on their inner lives or crafting his own introspective songs, Chris finds that music sharpens his ability to recognise and connect with the challenges his clients bring to session.
"The overarching role that music has played in my life as a therapist is multifaceted. Acting not only as a go-to self-care activity, exploring this mode of expression has helped provide a depth of insight into the collective human experience — assisting me in recognising and relating to client challenges in a clinical setting."
