About Vera
Vera Selitser brings a rare combination of qualifications to her psychotherapy practice. A Registered Psychotherapist holding both a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy, she works at the intersection where psychological insight, biological understanding, and lived human experience meet — offering a level of integrative care that few therapists are positioned to provide.
Her practice spans couples therapy, sex therapy, and individual psychotherapy for adults, seniors, and teens. Vera works particularly well with clients navigating anxiety, relational struggles, trauma, stress and sleep difficulties, and the complex landscape of fertility, perinatal mental wellness, and the parenting years. Her approaches draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy — tailored to the unique architecture of each client's inner world.
"My work is about resolving internal conflicts — accepting, supporting, and healing the parts of yourself that need help — so you can experience genuine inner peace and live life as its best version."
Vera Selitser · Aurora Village Therapy & Wellness CentreClinical Approach
Vera's approach is integrative, depth-oriented, and deeply respectful of each client's individual story. Her own experience navigating diverse social, cultural, and relational landscapes informs the warmth, insight, and non-judgmental presence she brings to every session. Clients describe her work as welcoming, thoughtful, and remarkably grounded — the kind of space where complicated truths can be spoken without fear.
Her practice is shaped by a central conviction: healing happens when the parts of ourselves we have hidden, judged, or exiled are finally welcomed back. Drawing on Internal Family Systems and depth-oriented work, Vera helps clients gently turn toward what hurts — not to fix or eliminate it, but to listen, understand, and ultimately reintegrate the parts of self that have been carrying difficult emotional weight on their own.
Couples Therapy & Sex Therapy
Vera is a relationship expert and trained sex therapist with deep expertise in the dynamics of long-term partnership — communication, attachment, intimacy, repair after rupture, and the often unspoken territory of sexuality and desire.
Her work is grounded in the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy, with extensive understanding of how reproductive health, fertility, and the perinatal journey shape relational life.
Mental Health & Medication Integration
As a Clinical Pharmacist specialising in mental health, Vera offers something unique — a clinician who can speak fluently to the medication side of mental health treatment.
For clients navigating complex mental health conditions, medication questions, or the interaction between psychiatric care and psychotherapy, Vera's pharmacology training brings a layer of holistic understanding that bridges what is often a fragmented care landscape.
Beyond couples and individual work, Vera brings over a decade of experience supporting seniors — honouring the wisdom, complexity, and unique mental wellness needs of later life. She is equally skilled in working with adults and teens navigating ADHD, OCD, anxiety disorders, grief, sleep difficulties, and the trauma that lives quietly beneath everyday struggle.
