Online sessions

Many of our therapists offer secure video sessions anywhere in Ontario — a good option if travel, schedule, or comfort makes in-person harder.

  • You'll receive a secure, private video link before your appointment.
  • Works on a computer, tablet, or phone — no special software needed.
  • For the best experience, find a quiet, private space and use headphones.

Fees & payment

Session fees vary by clinician and are confirmed with you before your first appointment. Reduced-rate options are available through our student clinic.

  • Session fees are listed on each therapist's profile — they vary by clinician.
  • Student clinic (supervised): $80 per session — an accessible option with our Master's-level student therapists.
  • Payment is collected at the time of each session.
  • Psychotherapy is HST-exempt.

Insurance & receipts

Our team includes both Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Social Workers (RSW), so sessions are claimable under most extended health benefit plans.

  • A detailed receipt is provided after each session, with the practitioner's name and registration number for your claim.
  • Direct billing is coming soon, but isn't available just yet. For now, you pay at the time of your session and submit the receipt we provide to your insurer.
  • Coverage varies by plan — check whether your policy covers RP or RSW services, and your per-session and annual limits, before you begin.

Cancellations & rescheduling

Life happens, and sometimes you'll need to change an appointment. We just ask for reasonable notice so we can offer the time to someone else.

  • Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule.
  • Our online booking system lets you change an appointment yourself up to 48 hours ahead. Inside that window — or if your booking link has expired — email your therapist directly to cancel or reschedule.
  • Missed appointments (no-shows) are charged the full session fee.
  • Need a hand? Contact us at [email protected] or (289) 500-8039.

Confidentiality & privacy

What you share in therapy is private. Your personal health information is protected under Ontario's health privacy law (PHIPA) and our professional colleges' standards.

There are a few limited situations where a therapist is legally or ethically required to act — for example, when there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, a concern about the safety of a child, or a court order. Your therapist will walk you through these at your first session.

In a crisis

Newmarket Therapy Centre is not a crisis or emergency service, and sessions are by appointment. If you or someone you care about is in crisis, please reach out to one of these right away — they're free and available 24/7.
